Three establishments fined for violation of solid waste Management rules

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on three hotels and restaurants in the Sector 29 area of the city for allegedly violating the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016.

On Friday, a team, comprising Senior Sanitation Inspector Harsh Chawla, Sanitation Inspector Jitendra Kumar and others of Zone 3 area, inspected the commercial areas of Sector 29. It was revealed that the bulk waste generators of the area, including hotels and restaurants, were violating the Solid Waste Management Rules.

During the inspection, the team found that Bikanerwala, Gola Sizzlers and Punjab Grills were not complying with the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016. The team imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the three violators on the spot and instructed them to ensure compliance with the rules in future.

Narhari Singh Banger, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, stresses that it was mandatory for all bulk waste generators (BWGs) located in the municipal limits to follow the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016.

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner asserted that these units should divide waste generated in their establishments into wet, dry and hazardous waste and dispose it of as per the different categories.

The sanitation teams of the corporation have been inspecting bulk waste generators and imposing penalty if it was found that the rules were not followedby the establishments.
