The Kurukshetra police have booked three persons, including a woman, under the Immigration Act and cheating charges for allegedly sending a man to Dubai instead of Italy. The case has been registered against Chandigarh resident Sahil, his wife, and partner Gulshan, a resident of Punjab.
In his complaint to the police, Mohammad Rashid, a resident of Shahabad, stated that he wanted to go to Italy for which a deal was fixed at Rs 9.50 lakh but he was sent to Dubai.
“I came in contact with the agents through a friend. Instead of sending me to Italy, they sent me to Dubai. I was told by the agents that it was a one week stay in Dubai and then they will send me to Italy after getting the documents for Italy ready. But later they sent me to Oman where I was kept captive and they asked for money. I paid them Rs 5.50 lakh in different instalments. I had to spend Rs 1 lakh to come back to India”, the complainant alleged.
He further said the agents stopped receiving his calls and when he went to meet them, he was threatened of dire consequences.
“My family had arranged for the funds to send me abroad after borrowing money on interest. They have duped me and I have lost Rs 6.50 lakh”, Rashid claimed and requested the police officials to help him in recovering his money.
A case has been registered under the Immigration Act and charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy against the three persons at the Shahabad police station.
