BJP leader refutes allegation
Refuting the allegations of the Congress candidate, Sahil Sudha, BJP leader and son of Thanesar BJP candidate Subash Sudha, alleged that the Congress workers were distributing liquor and other material to people on Thursday night. He said that the party was levelling allegations just to “hide its own wrongdoings”.
Congress leader Ashok Arora said, “Last night, BJP workers had attacked our party workers, during which one of the youths had suffered injuries. We had raised the issue of hooliganism during our poll campaign also and the SP had ensured that check-points would be installed and patrolling increased. We demand that strict action should be taken against the people who are attacking Congress workers. We will not accept hooliganism in Thanesar. Ensuring fair election is a responsibility of the administration. The police should increase vigil in sensitive areas.”
“We have spoken to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police regarding the whole situation. The BJP leaders are attacking people who have shown faith in the Congress. They are trying to instill a sense of fear among voters. The SP told us that action would be taken on the basis of the complaint. We appeal to the people of Thanesar and our party workers to maintain peace and turn out in large numbers to cast their vote,” he added.
Kurukshetra SP Varun Singla said, “A complaint has been received and appropriate action will be taken on the basis of the statement.”
Meanwhile, refuting the allegations of the Congress candidate, Sahil Sudha, BJP leader and son of Thanesar BJP candidate Subash Sudha, alleged that the Congress workers were distributing liquor and other stuff to people last night and that the party was levelling allegations just to hide its own wrongdoings.
He alleged, “The Congress workers have been actively distributing liquor and other stuff in the past few days and even last night, we found Congress workers distributing liquor and reported the matter to the Election Commission. After reporting the issue, I left the spot and have no idea what happened later. A campaigning vehicle of the BJP was also damaged by Congress workers. The Congress leaders have been levelling allegations just to divert the attention of the people. We will request the administration to conduct a fair investigation and take appropriate action,” he said.
