Tata's real estate company fined Rs 5L for violating GRAP norms
Tata La Vida, a subsidiary of Tata Housing, has been fined Rs 5 lakh by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) for continuing construction in Sector 113, despite restrictions under Stage-4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The fine was imposed on Friday after an MCG enforcement team discovered ongoing construction work during a special monitoring campaign in Zone-2.
The team halted the construction and issued the fine for violation of GRAP Stage-4 regulations, which prohibit construction activities to reduce air pollution. MCG officials also directed the project head, Sanjay Pratap, to ensure compliance with the rules, warning that no construction should proceed under the ongoing ban.
In a separate incident, a Swachhata branch team found waste being dumped illegally by an authorized service station of Royal Enfield in Wazirabad village. Sanitation Inspector Jitendra Kumar imposed Rs 5,000 fine on the service station for littering and warned the operator of legal action, including an FIR, if the violation continued.
MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg emphasized a "zero tolerance" policy for violations of GRAP norms and other regulations. He urged local residents to report illegal construction or waste dumping to authorities for prompt legal action.
