Yamunanagar, July 10

A team of the Town and Country Planning Department, Yamunanagar, carried out a demolition drive in three unauthorised colonies in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri. The team demolished damp proof courses (DPCs), network of kachcha roads and sewerage lines in the said illegal colonies.

Ashok Garg, District Town Planner (DTP), Yamunanagar, said the structures were demolished in three residential colonies of Jagadhri, Gulab Nagar and Govindpura village. He said these illegal colonies were spread in nearly 4.5 acres.

He said as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Captain Manoj Kumar, action was being taken.

“Under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, action was taken in accordance with the provisions of the Haryana Urban Area Development and Regulation Act 1975,” said the DTP.

He further said Jagadhari Naib Tehsildar Amit Kumar was appointed as the Duty Magistrate and the police force was provided by the SHO of the Enforcement Bureau, Yamunanagar.

The Field Inspector of the Town and Country Planning Department, Anil Kumar, and Junior Engineer Raj Singh were also present at the demolition sites.

The DTP has appealed to the people of the district not to invest their money in such unauthorised colonies and to contact the DTP office before buying a plot.

“Before carrying out any construction in the controlled area, one can apply on the portal of the Town and Country Planning Department to obtain permission for the land use change and if required, the District Town Planner’s office can be contacted for more information on any working day,” said Garg.
