Spurt in theft incidents worries Sirsa residents
Sirsa is witnessing a rise in theft incidents, leaving residents concerned about safety and security. In two major thefts reported recently, miscreants targeted a petrol station and a private residence.
In the first incident, a tractor-trailer worth Rs 40.5 lakh was stolen from a petrol pump near Delhi Pul on Friday night. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the filling station. Kuldeep Singh, trailer owner and a resident of Sector 20, reported the crime to the Civil Lines police. According to him, his driver parked the tractor-trailer at the petrol pump on the night of November 29. The CCTV footage revealed that an unidentified person drove the vehicle away around 1:30 am. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
In another incident in Ellenabad, thieves broke into the house of Davinder Kaur near Sidhu Hospital. The suspects entered the house through the roof and made away with a gold ring, silver anklets and Rs 20,000. Davinder came to know about the theft on Friday morning when she noticed the cupboard open on the first floor and valuables missing. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons.
Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of night patrolling, which they believe is emboldening criminals. The police have assured the victims of swift action and are working to identify and apprehend the suspects. However, the rising trend of thefts has left locals demanding more security measures.
