The police said Panipat is an industrial town with highways all around. The NH-44 is being crossed from the middle of the city. Apart from this, there are Panipat-Haridwar highway, Panipat-Rohtak highway, Panipat-Safidon-Assandh-Jind state highway and several internal roads.

The traffic wing has identified black spots for accidents in the district and continuously challans traffic rules violators in the district to reduce accidents.

As per details available, an accident took place on the Garhi Chaju turn on August 25 in which two youths, Dilbagh and Manjeet, of Samalkha, who were on a scooty, were killed. The police registered a case, but which vehicle hit their scooty was unknown. Following the case details, the team collected evidence from the spot recorded on a nearby CCTV camera.

On the basis of the evidence, an investigation team reached the tractor-trailer driver who hit the scooty.

Similarly, an accident occurred on the NH-44 near a petrol pump in Sewah village on October 5 where an unknown vehicle met with an accident with a pick-up vehicle. Soon, the pick-up vehicle caught fire. The accident occurred around 2 am. The pick-up driver Dilshad of New Delhi was saved by people at the site. The Sector 29 police registered a case and began investigations in the matter. The special team investigated the matter and collected evidence and the CCTV footage from Panipat and Murthal toll plaza and found a suspicious truck. The team reached the truck owner and after that, he joined the investigation and the case was cracked.

SP Lokender Singh honoured the special team members with cash award and commendation certificates.
