Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday said the country faces certain challenges, with some forces trying to harm India's economy and institutions. These forces can’t be overlooked.

The Vice-President was in Kurukshetra to attend the International Gita Mahotsav on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Dhankhar said: “India is a shining star, land of opportunities and investments. Some forces in the country and abroad are working together, on the basis of money power and by using various other tactics, to harm the country’s economy and institutions. Their sinister design, pernicious object is to dent, tarnish and diminish our constitutional institutions and to run down our growth history and growth trajectory. We can’t overlook such forces. Such forces need to be crushed.”

“From the land of Gita, I want to give a message that we will always keep the nation first and remember that we are Indians and India is our identity. We must remember that we are Indians, and being an Indian is our strength. Everyone should understand the essence of the Bhagavad Gita and its message of positive thinking and harmony. I will appeal to boys and girls that you are living in India with enormous opportunities and the opportunity basket is growing continuously. Our technological advancements and digital penetration are envy of the world. The world leaders want to learn these from India,” he added.

Praising Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, the Vice-President said: “Haryana is a land of endless possibilities, a leader of the nation, and its talent is unparalleled in every field. There is no doubt in my heart. Nayab will definitely do something unique.”

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhankhar said: “After six decades, Modi has had the privilege of becoming the charioteer of the nation. India has seen unprecedented economic progress and institutional advancement in the past 10 years. Now, India is on the path to becoming a developed nation. The country has witnessed how important is the role of a companion and charioteer. We have chosen the path of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Viksit Bharat is no longer a dream, but a target in front of us. We have to keep the sermon of Gita in mind while achieving the target. We need to have the concentration and dedication that Arjuna had so that India could get the status of developed nation by or before 2047.”

Highlighting some decisions and achievements, including giving free gas connections, growth in mobile technology, banking system, online transactions and Jan Dhan accounts, the Vice-President said: “I have seen a lot in my four decades of politics. I have seen country’s gold being deposited in banks of Switzerland just to save the economic credibility because our foreign exchange reserves were around one billion US dollars. Today, the reserves are 650 US billion dollars to 680 US billion dollars. Sometime, it crossed 700 billon US dollars. Tourism has increased in Kashmir.”

The Vice-President visited state-level exhibition at Haryana Pavilion at Brahma Sarovar and also paid obeisance at Bhadrakali Temple along with his wife. The Vice-President was accompanied by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
