Sirsa, August 16

Members of Dr Ambedkar Student Council, Haryana, staged a protest and burnt an effigy of Vice-Chancellor Ajmer Singh Malik at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) today. The students are seeking various changes, including the naming of a new university building after Jyotiba Phule, installation of a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar and adherence to the UGC rules. They are also demanding the suspension of the recruitment process till the reservation policy is implemented and the cancellation of recent interviews.

Additionally, they want the backlog in SC/BC and EWS recruitment addressed, jobs of contractual faculty regularised and the PhD admission system revised to ensure compliance with the UGC reservation norms.
