Heavy vehicles will be allowed as soon as the road maintenance work is completed, said Deputy Commissioner Lalit Siwach.

After farmers left the Singhu protest site on December 11, teams of the district administration, National Highways Authority of India and Delhi Police carried out a special drive to clean the area.
The Sonepat administration opened the Singhu border around 3 pm, but the traffic could run smoothly only by 6 pm, when the Delhi Police removed the barricades after carrying out maintenance work.
For now, only three lanes on both sides of NH-44 have been reopened for small vehicles. DC Siwach and SP Rahul Sharma officials visited the border in the evening.
