Shiksha Mahakumbh begins at KU
A two-day Shiksha Mahakumbh 2024 on 'Indian education system for global development' under the joint aegis of the Department of Holistic Education, and Kurukshetra University, was inaugurated at the university here on Monday.
In the inaugural session, chief guest Swami Gyananand, said the knowledge of books and experiential learning helped bring out the inner consciousness and awareness which was usually covered within layers of materialism. Human behaviour had indispensable role in the Indian education system which nurtured the humane values of goodness in a person, he said.
The keynote speaker, Satish Kumar, of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, said for the development of the country, effective steps should be taken to encourage entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship cells should be established in each college and university so that the students become self-reliant and job creators.
Patron, Shiksha Mahakumbh and Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, said Kurukshetra University was the first university of Haryana to implement NEP 2020 with all its provisions not only on the campus but also in all affiliated colleges. As per the guidelines of the UGC, multi-disciplinary courses, ability enhancement courses, value-added courses, skill vocational courses, internships had been integrated in the entire educational system as per the national curriculum framework. To provide education to students as per the Indian culture, the compulsion of English has been abolished on the campus. The students can write their exams in Hindi.
General secretary Vidya Bharti, Desh Raj Sharma gave the outline of Shiksha Mahakumbh. North Zone Sangathan Mantri Vidya Bhart and Vijay Kumar Nadda emphasised the importance of educational collaboration.
My Home India Founder Sunil Deodhar, General Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Sansthan, Avnish Bhatnagar and KU Registrar professor Sanjeev Sharma also addressed the gathering.
The Gurugram University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dinesh Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Mahendragarh, Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University and Prof Deepti Dharmani were among the speakers.
A session of all Vice-Chancellors and Directors of North India Higher Education Institutes was also held in the KU committee room. In the conclave, a deliberation was held to acknowledge best practices prevalent in higher education. Central University of Haryana Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar said vocational courses should be encouraged in higher education. Tiruchirappalli IIM director Dr Pawan Kumar said faculty development programmes were needed to update the educational system. Hisar CCSHAU Vice-Chancellor Dr BR Kamboj highlighted the role of marketing and packaging opportunities for global development. Rohtak MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir said the curriculum development should have elements of research ecosystem. Haryana Sahitya and Sanskrit Academy Panchkula vice-president Prof Kuldeep Agnihotri said that industry academic collaborations were essential for effective higher education. Nearly 30 Vice-Chancellors of different universities of North India attended the conclave.
