Kurukshetra, July 14
Intensifying poll preparations, Sanyukta Sangharsh Party (SSP) and Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni today called on party workers to launch a campaign for strengthening the party’s base in the state.
Gurnam Singh, earlier this month, had announced that his party would participate in the upcoming Assembly elections. While Gurnam Singh will contest the election from the Pehowa Assembly segment of Kurukshetra district, the names of the candidates on the remaining seats are yet to be announced.
The farmer leader held a meeting with office-bearers, workers and supporters of his party in Pehowa to chalk out a strategy for the elections.
As per the information, the party workers will launch its campaign from July 17 and raise the issues of minimum support price, unemployment, plight of farmers and labourers, condition of government schools and hospitals in the state.
The party will also launch a membership drive for inducting new members for which it has given a mobile number.
According to sources, the SSP will focus on BPL families, labourers, farmers, unemployed youths, job generation, minimum support price on all crops and compensation for losses, improving health and education facilities to woo the voters. It will also cover small businessmen and vendors in its poll manifesto.
Rakesh Bains, core committee member of the party, said, “The party has decided to participate and field its candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana for which a meeting was held today to chalk out a strategy. Duties have been assigned to the party workers and it has been decided that booth level committees will be formed across the state. The party workers will launch a campaign to strengthen the party’s base and raise public issues.”
Gurnam Singh said, “With the slogan of Kamera versus Lootera, the party is set to launch its campaign. We are focusing on the expansion of the party and also strengthening the party base. We will start holding district-wise meetings on July 17 from Rewari and then cover all districts and announce the committees.”
After forming the committees in all districts, the candidates will be announced. The party’s manifesto is being prepared and we will be focusing on the farmers, poor, unemployed and education. The manifesto will also be launched in the coming days. We are calling on the public to come forward and join the party and get rid of dirty politics where the decisions are being taken in favour of corporates only,” he added.
