Sabotaged in Cong, feeling 'sukoon' in BJP, says Kiran
Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhry has stated that she was feeling relieved and rewarded after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as her political career was sabotaged in the Congress by the camp of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Addressing a news conference at the residence of former minister Krishan Murti Hooda in Rohtak on Tuesday, the BJP leader lashed out at Hooda and his son Deepender, accusing the father-son duo of having ruined the Haryana Congress owing to their vested political interests and ambitions.
"It seemed as if they (Hoodas) had taken a contract to destroy the state Congress. They did not let a party organisation form in Haryana under the leadership of Ashok Tanwar and Kumari Selja. Even now, they are not letting a Leader of Opposition get elected as they do not want to let go of power from their hands," said the firebrand MP.
She pointed out that the state Congress president as well as the leader in charge of the party's affairs in Haryana were handpicked by the Hoodas, who kept on hatching conspiracies to sabotage the prospects and careers of their own party leaders.
Questioned why she did not apprise the Congress' central leadership of the goings-on while she was in that party, Kiran said she had done her best in that regard, but the Hoodas had hijacked the party high command.
"Unlike the Congress where the leaders having potential were targeted and harmed, the BJP has the culture to reward and promote such leaders," remarked Kiran. In response to a query, the BJP leader asserted that the Congress had no future in Haryana and would not come to power for a long time.
"I faced sabotage and conspiracies while I was in the Congress. Now, after joining the BJP, I feel sukoon," she said on being asked what difference does she feel in the Congress and BJP.
She rubbished the allegations of tampering with EVMs, stating that instead of accepting their defeat, the Congress leaders were trying to hide behind lame excuses.BJP's Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana Ram Chander Jangra was also present.
