The Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Shikohpur in Gurugram district organised the 5-day training programme on mushroom cultivation, aiming to foster entrepreneurship skills and enhance the socio-economic development of rural livelihoods in association with the Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI).

The coordinator of the training programme Dr Bharat Singh said the training programme was organised in collaboration with the Action For Food Production Institute under the ITC Mission ‘Sunhara Kal’, in which 25 men and women from Tawaru, Khand, Mohammadpur, Sarai, Kota, Dadupur, Sund villages received training on mushroom production techniques, to increase their farm income by cultivating mushrooms.

He said the rural folk here have the advantage of a huge market potential in the National Capital region.

The participants were given information on mushroom house construction, method of preparing compost and casing soil, mushroom harvesting, packaging and marketing.

The participants were told that good profits could be earned by cultivating Dhingri and Dudhiya mushrooms by producing them as per the demand and market requirement.
