Rs 93 crore released to 13k bajra growers in Jhajjar
The district administration has not only expedited the lifting of bajra procured by the government agencies in grain markets but also claimed that a total payment of over Rs 93 crore has been made to over 13,000 farmers in the district for the produce.
The bajra is being purchased by Hafed and the Haryana State Warehouse Corporation (HSWC) at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,625 per quintal. As per the official information, a total of 98.7 per cent of the bajra procured has so far been lifted from local grain markets while 98 per cent payment of the produce has also been released to the farmers.
“A total arrival of 38,713 MT bajra has so far been recorded in six grain markets of Jhajjar district and 36,319 MT among these, has been procured by the government agencies at the MSP while the process is underway for purchasing the remaining ones. Similarly, 35,831 MT bajra has been lifted from grain markets so as to ensure the payment to the farmers at the earliest,” said Pradeep Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jhajjar.
Dahiya said a total payment of Rs 93.43 crore had, as of now, been released to the farmers as per the MSP. Among them, Hafed had released a sum of around Rs 56.82 crore and Rs 36.61 crore had been released by the HSWC. Hafed had procured a total of 22,144 MT and the HSWC 14,175 MT bajra in the district, he added.
As far as the procurement of bajra at the grain market is concerned, the HSWC has so far procured 14,175 MT bajra in Jhajjar mandi while Hafed has purchased 14,029 MT at Mathanhail mandi, 5,323 MT at Dhakla, 1,916 MT at Beri, 686 MT at Badli and 189 MT in the Bahadurgarh grain market.
Similarly, 14,025 MT bajra has been lifted from Jhajjar, 13,821MT from Matanhail, 5,308 MT from Dhakla, 1,815 MT from Beri, 686 MT from Badli and 176 MT from Bahadurgarh.
The DC said employees of the Marketing Board, Agriculture and Revenue Departments had been deputed in each grain market to resolve the complaints of the farmers on the spot while police personnel had been deployed for security purposes. Similarly, special arrangements had been made to ensure potable water, electricity supply, prompt payment of produce and lifting of bajra, he added.
