Rs 50-cr project to renovate crematoriums, graveyards in 4 districts
Powergrid will renovate crematoriums and graveyards in 658 villages across Karnal, Panipat, Rewari, and Kurukshetra districts at a cost of about Rs 50 crore under the Shivdham Yojana, as part its CSR scheme.
An MoU was signed between Powergrid and the Development and Panchayats Department in the presence of CM Nayab Singh Saini in Gurugram today.
Saini said under the CSR scheme, corporate companies were making significant contributions to rural development, which was commendable.
Boundary walls and paved roads will be constructed for all Shivdhams. Additionally, sheds will be installed and arrangements for drinking water will be made. The population of these villages is about 40 lakh.
An amount of Rs 10.97 crore will be spent on the reconstruction of Shivdhams in 198 villages of Karnal district; Rs 18.46 crore in 237 villages of Kurukshetra district; Rs 5.15 crore in 106 villages of Panipat district; and Rs 15.35 crore in 117 villages of Rewari district.
While highlighting the pivotal role of cooperative movement in fostering economic growth, Saini urged people to actively engage with cooperatives to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat, Viksit Haryana.
He was addressing a gathering at the concluding function of the 71st National Cooperative Week in Gurugram. He said a state-of-the-art cooperative sugar mill would be established at Naraingarh and a modern sunflower oil crushing mill would be set up in Kurukshetra. The country’s largest cooperative mustard oil mill would come up in Rewari, he said.
He also called for the implementation of skill development and entrepreneurship programmes tailored for the youth, as well as the adoption of digital payment systems and e-governance practices to enhance operational efficiency.
CM meets S Korean delegation
A South Korean delegation led by Jung Won Joo, chairman of Korea Herald, Daewoo Corporation, and the Korea Housing Builders Association, called on CM Nayab Singh Saini in Gurugram on Thursday. Emphasising the government’s commitment to support the growth of Korean businesses in Haryana, Saini assured that the government would assist in identifying suitable land in areas adjacent to the NCR to facilitate this growth. Haryana has identified key sectors for cooperation, including automotive, textiles, food processing, and real estate.
