Rs 1.1 crore gold, Rs 48.9 lakh cash seized in Sirsa

In a significant operation ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, the Sirsa police seized gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 1.12 crore and cash amounting to nearly Rs 48.9 lakh during vehicle checks in the last 24 hours.

A police team, led by the Baragudha Station Officer and accompanied by a duty magistrate, was conducting checks at the Panniwala Mota checkpoint. During this operation, a man named Sachin, a resident of Ram Colony in Sirsa, was stopped who was coming from Dabwali.

Upon searching his vehicle, police discovered 1.47 kg of gold jewellery. Sachin could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the jewellery, leading to its confiscation for further investigation.

Additionally, the police team seized large amounts of cash from several individuals during the checks. Rajesh, from Ward 2 of Mandi Dabwali had Rs 17 lakh in cash, while Sarvjeet from Kotdhun, Punjab, was found with Rs 3.46 lakh. The Kirti Nagar police also seized Rs 13.26 lakh from Gurpreet, a resident of Amritsar Kalan in Sirsa.

Other cash confiscations included Rs 3.25 lakh from Janak Raj, Rs 1.10 lakh from Ramesh Kumar and Rs 4.46 lakh from Somil, all residents of Sirsa.

The Badaguda police also seized Rs 2 lakh from Vikas and Nathusari Chopta police found Rs 1.08 lakh with Sanjay Kumar.
