Residents in remote areas can now breathe a sigh of relief. Those facing challenges in accessing medical treatment at Pt BD Sharma PGIMS can now consult specialist doctors remotely through tele-consultation services at their nearest Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

The authorities at the PGIMS on Thursday launched an online consultation service for patients in order to provide them consultancy regarding their health issues at their doorstep while saving their time. Specialist doctors from 10 departments of the PGIMS have been engaged with the facility. They will be available daily and will treat patients through e-Sanjeevani Portal.

“The tele-consultation facility has been introduced following the directives of the state government, which has also made the PGIMS as a nodal centre for this state-wide service. Under the facility, doctors posted at the CHCs and the PHCs across the state will be able to connect with the PGIMS doctors online. They will inform the PGIMS doctors about the patients’ condition to get consultation for further treatment,” said Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS).

Dr Aggarwal maintained that specialist doctors from various disciplines like Medicine, Surgery, Dental, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, and Dermatology had been associated with the facility. They would treat the patients through online video calls on the e-Sanjeevani portal. This scheme would prove to be a milestone in providing treatment to the patients at their doorstep, he claimed.
