The Kisan Sabha, Rohtak, staged a protest demonstration at the Rohtak Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday, demanding the release of pending crop-loss compensation and due insurance claims to the farmers of the district.

Seek speedy release of Insurance claims

  • Farmers seek outstanding relief for damage to crops in 2022 that had been returned to the government by the administration
  • They have demanded that the compensation for the rabi crop destroyed by hailstorm in more than 20 villages in 2023 be released soon
  • They have sought insurance money for rabi crop damaged in 2024. Relief should also be provided to the farmers affected by cyber fraud
  • The relief for the farm land shown as vacant in Saiman (Meham) during the rabi season of 2022 should be approved

The protesters, led by district Kisan Sabha president Preet Singh, submitted a memorandum addressed to the local Deputy Commissioner and Chief Minister to the Naib Tehsildar. In a press note issued here, Kisan Sabha district secretary Balwan Singh said the compensation for the crops destroyed by natural disasters during the last three years was still pending.

“The district administration should expedite the work of getting the due compensation released from the Haryana Government and distribute it to the affected farmers,” said the statement.

Addressing the protesters, district Kisan Sabha general secretary Sumit Dalal said the administration was not resolving the issues related to compensation, while the BJP government was making false claims that the problems of the farmers were being resolved. The Kisan Sabha has warned that it will intensify the stir if the compensation is not released and distributed soon.
