Rohtak DC calls meet on no-trust move against Zila Parishad chief
Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar has convened a meeting of the local Zila Parishad on October 23 to consider the motion of no-confidence against the president of the Zila Parishad.
10 OF 14 MEMBERS UP IN ARMS
- Ten of the 14 members of the Zila Parishad had sought a no-confidence move against their president last month.
- In a joint representation to the Dc, they had stated that they were not satisfied with the functioning of Manju Hooda, who had been holding the position for over 1.5 years.
“Ten members of Zila Parishad, Rohtak, have submitted a requisition for calling a meeting of the House for considering a motion of no-confidence against their president. The meeting for considering the no-confidence motion is required to be convened under Section 123 of The Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, and Rule 10 of The Haryana Panchayati Raj Rules, 1995,” maintains a notice for the meeting issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
Ten of the 14 members of the Zila Parishad had sought a no-confidence motion against their president Manju Hooda last month.
The Zila Parishad president had contested the recent elections to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha as the BJP candidate from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district against veteran Congress leader and two-time Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
In a joint representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, 10 members of the Zila Parishad had maintained that they were not satisfied with the functioning of Manju Hooda, who has been holding the position of president of Rohtak Zila Parishad for more than one-and-a-half years.
On the other hand, ZP president Manju Hooda had termed the move to bring a no-confidence motion against her as politically motivated.
Meanwhile, as per sources, the no-trust move may not succeed in the changed circumstances.
“The Congress-supported members had joined hands for the move during the Assembly elections as the Congress seemed to be the frontrunner and was likely to form the government. However, the motion may fall as some members are likely to back out in view of the formation of a BJP government in the state,” said a source.
