The district administration has swung into action following complaints lodged by residents at Samadhan Shivir being organised at the district headquarters these days.

Prepare DPRs for water, sewer pipes in colonies to be regularised: DC

Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata has directed the officials of the Public Health and Engineering Department to prepare DPRs for laying sewerage and drinking water pipelines under the AMRUT-2 project for those colonies which are going to be regularised in near future. He was listening to the grievances of the residents at the Samadhan Shivir organised at the local Mini-Secretariat on Tuesday. Khadgata directed the officials to redress the grievances of the residents promptly and sincerely.

Some residents of Bahu Akbarpur village in Rohtak district had lodged a complaint regarding substandard material being used in the construction of a road passing through their village during a Samadhan Shivir at the local Mini-Secretariat on Monday.

The village residents also complained about waste water being discharged into the village pond and the land around the pond being encroached upon. Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata, who chaired the Samadhan Shivir, directed the officials concerned to visit the village and inspect the said sites.

Within a few hours, District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) Rajpal Chahal reached Bahu Akbarpur village and inspected the pond about which the complaint had been raised.

The DDPO instructed the Secretary of the Panchayat Department and the village panchayat to remove the encroachments from around the pond and stop the flow of dirty water into the pond.

The villagers were pleasantly surprised at the swift response of the district administration on their complaint as the DDPO visited the village on the same day they aired their grievance.

Meanwhile, this morning, Assistant Commissioner Under Training (ACUT) Abhinav Siwach also reached the village and inspected the quality of material used in the construction of the newly built road.

During his visit, the officer also interacted with the villagers to know about their other problems and concerns. Siwach was accompanied by Executive Engineer Arun Kumar of the Public Works Department.

The villagers told the officials that substandard construction material was being used in the construction of the road, due to which it was breaking even while it was being built. The villagers also pointed out the poor sanitation system in the village and demanded efficient disposal of waste water and provision of adequate and clean drinking water. The ACUT assured the villagers that the use of good quality material would be ensured in the construction of the road.

“Action will be taken against the official concerned or agency (contractor) as per rules if substandard material is used in the construction,” Siwach said, adding that the other grievances of the villagers would also be redressed soon.
