Revolt, resistance against BJP nominees continue in Rohtak, Jhajjar constituencies
The resistance of the BJP candidates by other contenders for the party ticket in Rohtak’s Kalanaur (Reserved) and the Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh Assembly constituency continued on Friday.
Three BJP leaders belonging to the Ravidassia Community (Chamar) while addressing a news conference in Rohtak today demanded the party leadership to change its decision of allotting the ticket to anyone other than their communities while keeping in view caste equations in the constituency.
The BJP has fielded former chairperson of Rohtak Municipal Corporation Renu Dabla, belonging to the Dhanak community from Kalanaur.
Dr Ashok Ranga, Surajmal Kiloi and Sumita Bhatia Jangra, all office-bearers of the SC cell of the BJP, who were also vying for the party ticket from Kalanaur, claimed the vote share of the Ramdasia community was much higher than other castes of the SC in the Kalanaur constituency, hence lotus would definitely bloom in Kalanaur if any candidate from the Ravidassia community was pitted from there hence they had demanded the party leadership to review its decision and field any leader of the Ravidassia community from Kalanaur.
In Jhajjar district, former MLA Naresh Kaushik, who unsuccessfully contested the previous Assembly polls on the BJP ticket, has opposed the candidature of his younger brother— Dinesh Kaushik— from the BJP in the same Assembly segment. He has been denied the ticket from Bahadurgarh, which is located on the border of Haryana and Delhi.
He has demanded the party leadership to change its decision and will go ahead as per his supporters’ decision if his demand is not met. Naresh also broke down in tears while addressing his supporters’ meeting in Bahadurgarh on Friday. As per sources, Naresh and Dinesh do not have cordial relation.
“Our houses are located adjacent to one another, but he (Dinesh) has not yet come to seek my support. Only 150 workers were with him when he came to Bahadurgarh after being declared as the BJP candidate. All BJP workers here are disappointed following the party’s decision to deny me the ticket,” said Naresh while sharing his pain with the supporters.
He said, “Now, the ball is in the court of the party leaders who are to take a final call. I will take further action accordingly.”
