A retired sub-inspector of the Haryana Police attempted suicide by shooting himself in Safidon town of Jind district today. Dharam Singh, 77, called another person and said goodbye to him. However, sensing trouble, the person informed the police. As the police reached his residence and opened the gate, the sound of a gunshot was heard. The police went inside and rushed him to the Safidon Civil Hospital. After first aid, doctors referred him to PGI, Rohtak, after seeing his critical condition. The reason behind his attempt to commit suicide is yet to be found.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
