Resume stalled structural audits or face action: Gurugram DC
As the structural audit of residential societies has put on hold for several months owing to delay of payment by builders and Resident Welfare Associations, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar has ordered its immediate resumption.
Kumar has issued a warning stating that any further delay would lead to penalisation. He held a meeting with builders across the city to review the reasons behind the delay and visible lack of intent and cooperation by them in execution of structural audits ordered in 2022.“It has come to my notice that some builders are not taking interest in the process and not depositing their share of the fees for the audit process. This type of irresponsible attitude by the builder management in a sensitive matter related to the safety of the general public is not acceptable in any form. They must ensure structural audit process. Deposit your share as soon as possible so that the process of structural audit can be completed and if any flaws are found there, the repair work can be started as soon as possible,” warned Kumar. Many builders blamed RWAs for the delay, saying they had not paid up their share for the structural audit fee that had stalled the process.
The DC ordered a separate meeting with the RWAs and asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and District Town Planner (DTP) to ensure that structural audits were on track.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Hitesh Kumar Meena said, “Four agencies have been empanelled by the district administration for the structural audit. The builder concerned is completely free to get the audit done by any agency other than these four empanelled, but for this, he will have to take written consent from the RWA concerned.”
DTP Manish Yadav said 15 societies were included in the first phase of the process. The entire fee has been deposited by the builder. In the second phase of this process, the audit fee has not been deposited by the builder in two of the above 15.
