Resolve grievances in week or face action: Vij to officials at janta darbar
Cabinet Minister Anil Vij today directed district officials to take appropriate action on the complaints received during the 'janta darbar' within a week, else they will face the action.
Prepaid meters to be installed across state
Anil Vij has said prepaid power meters would be installed in all districts to resolve the problems related to wrong bills. Interacting with mediapersons, Vij said: “Recently, a state-level meeting was held and directions regarding various reforms in the Power Department were issued to the officials. They have been told to calculate the load on transformers across the state and upgrade those having lower capacity. The department will assess the load on power cables and change them wherever the load is more than their capacity.” “We have also decided to install prepaid meters across the state to resolve the complaints regarding wrong power bills,” he stated.
The minister resumed his famous weekly janta darbar at PWD rest house here, however this time the darbar is being organised only for the residents of Ambala Cantonment.
Though, the minister had already announced that he would only listen to the grievances of the people of Ambala, some people from other districts, including Karnal and Yamunanagar, also reached there to raise their complaints.
They said that since Vij holds three departments (Energy, Transport and Labour), he should listen to the complaints related to these departments coming from various districts too during his weekly darbar.
A number of complaints related to power, municipal council and PWD (B&R) were received during the darbar. He directed the officials of the Power Department to maintain complaint register, check the load of meters and increase the capacity of transformers as per the load. He also issued directions related to drainage, illegal possession at Mahesh Nagar Dharmashala, new power connections, roads, cyberfraud, sanitation, pension, immigration fraud, BPL cards, pension, school admissions, loose power cables and removal of power poles.
The minister also directed IG, Ambala Range, Sibash Kabiraj to constitute an SIT to investigate a fraud case after some youth alleged that they were duped by a company and no action was taken by the police.
About a complaint regarding no bus from Ambala depot to Yamunangar causing inconvenience to students, the minister directed the Roadways GM to resolve the grievance.
A complainant alleged that he had received a notice related to his house and when he went to the municipal council, the clerk in the lease branch didn’t listen to his grievance. Following the complaint, the minister directed the MC Executive Officer to shift the clerk to any other branch. He also pulled up the Chief Sanitary Inspector for repeated complaints regarding sanitation conditions and poor condition of drains.
Meanwhile, a girl and a boy approached the minister with the request for a job, however he told them to prepare for examinations as the jobs are being provided on merit.
A complainant alleged that the doctor’s absence from Panjokhra Sahib dispensary following which the minister directed the Civil Surgeon to visit the dispensary on a regular basis and take action against the doctors for negligence.
Ambala Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, SDM Ambala Cantonment Satinder Siwach and several officials were present on this occasion.
Anil Vij said “The complaints were related to various department and directions have been issued. The officials must remove words like ‘We will see’, ‘we are looking into it’ and ‘we are doing it’ from the vocabulary and resolve the problems within a stipulated time frame else they will face the action. They have been told to take appropriate action on the complaints received within a week, and no complainant should come back with the same grievance.”
