Residents of Vijay Nagar locality in Bhiwani town staged a protest demonstration to highlight the supply of contaminated water in their houses. The locality also has houses of Irrigation Minister Shruti Chaudhary and Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Chaudhary.

The residents alleged that they had been grappling with a persistent drinking water crisis for several days. “Despite repeated complaints to the department concerned, the issue remains unresolved. We have to take to the streets and raise slogans to highlight the issue,” said a protester.

Residents said the water supply had been irregular for several days. “Even when water is supplied, it is heavily contaminated and unfit for consumption. It is difficult to even smell the water, let alone drink it,” said Baljeet Gandhi.

The residents said that their appeals to the officials concerned in this regard had gone waste due to which they had been compelled to stage protests.

Residents warned that if their grievances are not addressed soon, they would be forced to intensify their protest.
