Will resolve issue at earliest

The lack of action has left them grappling with a poor drainage system. Resentment prevails among residents over the prolonged delay in addressing the issue and they feel neglected and helpless.

“We recently raised the issue with Municipal Corporation officials and a former councillor but no action has been taken so far,” said Rohtash Kamboj, a resident.

He added that the poor drainage system, which was leading to waterlogging during the monsoon season, also posed a health hazard. The stagnant water not only becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes but also leads to the deterioration of road surface, Kamboj said.

There are two small stretches in the colony that have not been built, causing inconvenience to residents. “We have been facing these problems for a long time now, and despite several complaints, the authorities have turned a blind eye to our plight. The lack of proper roads and drainage system affects our daily lives,” Kamboj said.

Satpal Chauhan, another resident, said it was ironic that despite paying taxes regularly, they were being deprived of basic amenities. “We urge the authorities to address our issues and take immediate action to provide us relief,” he said.

Karnal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Meena said the matter would be looked into and necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issues at the earliest.
