Remove BJP from power, end RSS hold: Former Punjab CM Channi urges voters
Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjeet Singh Channi has called for the removal of BJP from power, warning that its rule poses a significant threat to democracy and the Constitution. Addressing a public meeting last night in support of Congress candidate Neeraj Sharma from the NIT Assembly segment, Channi accused the BJP and the RSS of undermining the country’s bureaucratic recruitment system.
Channi claimed that the RSS was attempting to infiltrate the IAS and IPS ranks by pushing its candidates through backdoor channels. He argued that these efforts disregarded merit-based selection, which is the cornerstone of a democratic society. “This is a blatant attempt to destroy the system that upholds our civilised and democratic society,” Channi said.
He criticised the BJP for exploiting the common man through various schemes and online portals, adding that the party’s exit from the state was necessary to stop this exploitation.
Channi also positioned Neeraj Sharma as a potential Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, should Congress come to power. He emphasised Sharma’s close relationship with former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that Sharma would soon play a key role in the state government. Channi praised Sharma’s devotion to Lord Rama, contrasting it with what he described as the BJP’s fake religiosity, aimed at manipulating the religious sentiments of the majority community.
Turning his attention to the BJP’s recent elevation of Nayab Singh Saini as Chief Minister, Channi criticised the move as an attempt to deceive the public on issues concerning the Dalits and weaker sections of society. He pointed out that atrocities against various communities had sharply increased during the BJP’s 10-year rule.
Channi concluded by noting the overwhelming support Congress was receiving during the election campaign, expressing confidence that the party was poised to return to power in Haryana. Neeraj Sharma also addressed the gathering, sharing his vision for the state.
