Reject anti-reservation, anti-Dalit parties: Mayawati
Calling upon a gathering to elect the INLD-BSP alliance in the state, BSP Supremo Mayawati accused the Congress and the BJP of trying to end reservation, and following policies that were anti-Dalit and anti-poor. Seeking a caste-based census, she said a political change was needed to continue reservation.
Speaking at an election rally organised jointly by the INLD-BSP alliance at Prithla here this afternoon, Mayawati focused her speech on the issue of reservation and the exploitation of the scheduled caste and backward communities.
Attacking both parties, she said she had been concerned about the fate of reservation after the recent judgement of the Supreme Court.
Claiming that the Congress and the INDIA bloc managed to get votes of Dalits and the poor on the pretext of its slogans or assurances during the Lok Sabha polls this year, she said the party stood exposed completely as it had not made any move to bring a bill in the Parliament regarding the SC judgement given on August 1.
She said both the BJP and Congress had still been playing with the sentiments of Dalits and the poor by making false claims that they would not let reservation be ended.
Mayawati said if the INLD-BSP government came to power in Haryana, it would be able to keep the matter in abeyance till a Bill was passed from the Parliament.
She called out Rahul Gandhi for his reported statement on reservation, while stating that the BJP had also been trying to mislead people.
She said the country was facing issues like rampant corruption, inflation, unemployment and poverty, adding that Haryana was no different as capitalist forces had taken over administration and governance, and this had made the majority of the population reel under the exploitation and atrocities of all types.
She announced that Abhay Chautala would be the CM if alliance came to power, and said he would have two Deputy CMs, one of whom would be from the SC category.
Earlier, INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala, in his address, accused the Congress and BJP rule of looting the state.
He said while the Congress made Haryana a CLU state from agricultural one, the BJP failed to fulfil its promises made in 2014 and 2019. Announcing an old age pension of Rs 7,500, he said two lakh government jobs, unemployment bonus of Rs 21,000, free power, water and gas along with a special allowance of Rs 1,100 for women would be given each month. The alliance has fielded Surender Vashist from the Prithla segment.
