With former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda promising four deputy CMs if the Congress comes to power, the race to grab the position has started.

After Rewari candidate and former MLA Rao Chiranjeev debutant, Badshahpur candidate Vardhan Yadav too has joined the race. Hooda had announced that one deputy CM would be from the OBC category preferably a Yadav. Vardhan, a first-timer, is slated against BJP veteran Rao Narbir.

A youth Congress leader and close aide of Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda, Yadav is also getting support from leaders like Sachin Pilot and Raj Babbar. He is amongst 20 ‘young’ candidates fielded by the party. Speaking to The Tribune, Yadav said, “I don’t know about any race, but I will be up for any responsibility party hands me out once we win. The Congress has given unprecedented chance to youth energy in these elections and no matter what role we all play we will transform the state.”

Yadav with his strong on-ground campaign and vision is catching the attention of not just the state cadre but even the Congress high command. Deepender’s trust and patronage to him comes as an advantage in addition to his immense popularity in youth cadres of Haryana and Rajasthan. Deepender not just accompanied him for nomination, but will be campaigning for him on Saturday in Gurugram.
