Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today said the four-day state-level Ratnawali festival had brought recognition to Kurukshetra University at the national and international level.

Speaking on the concluding day of the Ratnawali festival, Nayab Saini said “Kurukshetra University is an invaluable heritage of Haryana and its valuable contribution to the academic, economic and social development of Haryana is distinctly apparent. It is among the oldest universities and is among the top universities of India working efficiently towards the growth of research, science, knowledge, skill development, culture, sports, arts and history. The university is preserving the heritage and culture of Haryana through Ratnawali mahostsav. It connects the young generation with the culture of Haryana and instils human values in the youth.”

"Teaching and research are common, but Kurukshetra University stands out for its equal contributions to cultural, social and economic growth. The university authorities, faculty and staff deserve appreciation. Ratnawali has proven its relevance by honing the talent of thousands of youths in the state. Let's carry forward our rich traditions, as these are our real strength”, he said.

While encouraging the students, CM Saini said, “Every Haryanvi's body is made of clay, but their heart is strong like iron and their future is like gold. No one loses on the stage of Ratnawali because everyone is winning the heart of visitors. The audience praises every team and performer with open heart. I appeal to every student to keep moving and never get frightened in any situation, no matter how difficult the competition is. I congratulate all participants. I just want to tell the youngsters to work hard and they will always find the government standing beside them  in every situation”.

The Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs, Kurukshetra University, organised the state-level cultural festival, Ratnawali, from October 25 to 28.

Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said, “It is a matter of pride for the university that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini accepted our invitation for the valedictory function. The Ratnawali started with nearly 300 students participating in eight disciplines in 1985 but over the years it has turned into a mega event. This year, about 3,000 students are participating in 34 disciplines. The university has been playing a crucial role in preserving the heritage and culture of Haryana. It is also among the leading universities in academic, research, sports, and cultural activities in the country.”

Gulab Singh Saini, former Senior Adviser, Conservative Party, Canada and an alumnus of KUK, said he was delighted to see that the university was doing commendable work in promoting Haryanvi culture as well as making the youth self-reliant.

He said the youth should hone the interpersonal skills to be competitive, ensure personal and professional growth and communicate effectively.

Former minister of state Subhash Sudha, Registrar Prof Sanjeev Sharma and several officials were present on the occasion.

RKSD PG College, Kaithal, lifted the overall trophy of Ratnawali-2024, while the KU campus was declared runner-up. Som Nath Sachdeva said, “The four-day Ratnawali festival was successful and we are proud of our younger generation. They actively participate in the festivals and play a major role in preserving the cultural heritage of Haryana.”
