Rao Narbir Singh announces his candidature from Badshahpur, party yet to confirm
While the BJP is yet to officially announce its tickets, party leader and former minister Rao Narbir Singh has declared he had got a ticket from Badshahpur.
Narbir who had on September 1 threatened the party to switch over to the Congress if denied a ticket, while speaking to The Tribune said he had been awarded a ticket after his meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah.
“While many leaders internally were trying to scuttle my ticket not caring about party’s future here, Home Minister Amit Shah met me. We had a productive discussion over the party’s third term in Haryana. I am fighting from Badshahpur,” said Narbir.
The moment news went out, his supporters started pompous celebrations and burst firecrackers in front of his residence in Gurugram. However, the party has not confirmed his candidature.
The viral celebration pictures did dent the spirits of other leaders.
“If he is getting a ticket then it is clear that only arm-twisting and pressure politics work in the party, not dedication or hardwork. Many of us will have to rethink our association with the BJP,” said one of the ticket probables from Badhshapur.
There were reports that Narbir had also met former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda.
His stake to the seat was challenged when former MP Sudha Yadav entered the scene seeking ticket from Badshahpur. She reportedly had support of Gurugram MP and Ahir leader Rao Inderjit Singh.
