The elevation of Ateli MLA Arti Singh Rao to a Cabinet Minister in the Haryana Government has further solidified Rampura House as the political power centre of the Ahirwal region, particularly in Rewari and Mahendragarh districts. Arti, the third-generation leader from the influential Rao family, is the only MLA from the area to secure a berth in the state government.

The BJP secured six out of seven seats in these districts in the latest elections. However, despite winning all three seats in Rewari district, none of its MLAs were appointed to the Cabinet, leaving local residents disappointed. Many are now hoping that a representative from Rewari will be awarded the post of Speaker or Deputy Speaker in the Vidhan Sabha.

Arti Singh Rao, daughter of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and granddaughter of former Chief Minister Rao Birendra Singh, won her debut election from the Ateli constituency in Mahendragarh district. Her appointment to the state Cabinet has rekindled the political influence of the Rao family, also known as Rampura House.

“Arti’s elevation has re-established Rampura House as the dominant power centre in Ahirwal. With her father serving as a Union Minister, the BJP has honoured the family by appointing her as a Cabinet minister. However, the political game is not over yet — two key posts, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, are still up for grabs, and one of Rao’s loyalists from Rewari may be given one of these roles,” said Naresh Chauhan, a local political analyst.
