Gurugram, January 18

Ahead of the consecration ceremony at Ram temple in Ayodhya, fraudsters are cheating people in the name of getting them VIP passes to attend the January 22 event. Cyber thugs have also been sending online links to gullible people.

Gurugram Cyber Police on Thursday issued an advisory and asked people to remain alert.

The advisory asked people to not open such links or respond to messages and phone numbers. No VIP pass arrangement of this type has been made in Ayodhya.

It is a matter of relief that till now Gurugram Police have not received any complaint of cheating in this manner.

A senior cyber police officer said they have started monitoring online groups and social media platforms. Apart from this, preparations have been started to crack down on the fraudsters by checking their IP addresses so that people do not become victims of fraud.

“Fraudsters have started a new trend by using social engineering to commit fraud in the name of Pran-Pratishtha in Ayodhya on January 22. In such a situation, people should not contact such links, messages and phone numbers. Cyber police are monitoring every activity of the fraudsters while residents also should be aware,” said Siddhant Jain, DCP Cyber.
