Rakhigarhi festival to begin on December 20
The historic village of Rakhigarhi, which is famous for Harappan era findings, is set to host the Rakhigarhi festival from December 20 to 22.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), C Jayashradha, during a meeting held at the VC auditorium of the Mini-Secretariat today said comprehensive arrangements are being made to ensure the success and appeal of the festival. The officials chalked their plans related to the security, parking, electricity and other essential facilities during the festival. She also issued directions to the relevant departments to ensure smooth execution.
In preparation for the event, a meeting with the principals of all colleges in Hisar district is scheduled tomorrow to encourage active participation from students.
Narnaund SDM Mohit Mahrana said all efforts were being made to make the Rakhigarhi festival a remarkable and memorable experience. The festival aims to shed light on Rakhigarhi’s distinction as one of the world’s oldest civilisations, offering visitors a fresh perspective on its historical and cultural importance.
“The festival will showcase the rich ancient history of Rakhigarhi, but also provide a unique platform for the local community, history enthusiasts and tourists. It aims to connect global audiences with the archaeological treasures of the region,” he said.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Education Officer Pradeep Narwal, District Elementary Education Officer Nirmal Dahiya, Public Works Department Executive Engineer Anil Narwal and representatives from the Archaeology, Sports, Tourism and Women and Child Development Departments.
