Rohtak, July 9
In a suspected case of honour killing at Chitadungra village in Rewari, a youth from Alwar, Rajasthan, died after he was allegedly thrashed by family members of a girl whom he had reportedly gone to meet around midnight.
The girl’s grandmother raised the alarm when she saw Mohit, 24, at their house, following which other members thrashed him. The family members of the girl, who is stated to be a minor, then called up Mohit’s family members and asked them to take him away.
“Mohit was badly injured. He complained of stomachache. We took him to a local doctor, who advised us to take him to Rewari. However, he could not be saved,” said Rajesh, Mohit’s uncle. He said they did not know that Mohit had an affair. DSP Pawan Kumar said a case has been registered.
