Rainwater harvesting system lying defunct
THE rainwater harvesting systems at two points on the premises of the tehsil office in Karnal are lying unattended and in a shambles. The authorities concerned have not cleaned the bushes that have grown around the harvesting system yet. It is unfortunate that even as monsoon is ongoing, the harvesting systems are lying defunct. What’s the use of setting up a rainwater harvesting system, when it is just sheer wastage of the public’s money? The authorities concerned should take immediate action to ensure the systems are functional. Ram Kumar Sharma, Karnal
Blocked sewage drains
A majority of the residential colonies in the NIT area are beset with waterlogging and a poor drainage system. Though huge funds are claimed to be spent on repairs, due to lack of cleaning and renovation of drains and sewage lines, commuting or movement in the streets becomes nearly impossible. Choked and blocked sewerage systems add to the woes of the residents who already face filthy civic conditions in the rainy season. The civic administration must take corrective measures. Stormwater drains in a bad shape
THE rains last week exposed the lackadaisical approach of the administration towards the inefficient drainage of rainwater here. Both sides of the roads are filled with filth, leading to breeding of mosquitoes. Water and mud have stagnated on the streets and main roads, due to which people are facing problems in commuting. The Public Health Department should take action to clean all drains on priority.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
