‘Rail Roko’ in Punjab disrupts traffic under Ambala Division
Train traffic under the Ambala Division faced significant disruption on Wednesday due to a three-hour ‘Rail Roko’ protest by farmers in Punjab. The agitation, which lasted from 12 noon to 3 pm, caused widespread delays, cancellations and rescheduling of services.
According to the Ambala Division of Northern Railway, nine trains were cancelled, five were rescheduled, and one was short-terminated. Over 20 trains were stranded at various stations as farmers blocked tracks at 22 locations across the division. Several trains were also running behind schedule.
The cancelled trains were Ambala Cantonment–Bathinda (04547), Bathinda–Shri Ganganagar (04753), Shri Ganganagar–Ambala Cantonment (04756), Ambala Cantonment–Kalka (04569), Kalka–Ambala Cantonment (04570), Ambala Cantonment–Daulatpur Chowk (06997), Daulatpur Chowk–Ambala Cantonment (06998), Bathinda–Shri Ganganagar (14527) and Shri Ganganagar–Bathinda (14528).
Meanwhile, Bathinda–Ambala Cantonment (04548) was short-terminated at Rajpura station. The rescheduled trains were Amritsar–Jainagar Express (14650), Amritsar–Saharsa Express (14604), Amritsar–New Delhi (12498), Amritsar–New Delhi Swarn Shatabdi (12030) and Firozpur–Dhanbad Express (13308).
