The authorities of the Municipal Council (MC), Bahadurgarh, have imposed a penalty of Rs 7,44,531 on a private agency for its failure to complete the renovation work of the Railway Park located at Ward 5 in Bahadurgarh town here in the stipulated time. The agency has been directed to deposit the fine at the earliest.

“A Gurugram-based agency was allotted the work in February to renovate the Railway Park in the next six months. Under the project, not only grills and swings were to be installed in the park but footpaths were to be constructed and other beautification works were to be done. As per the tender's conditions, all works were to be completed by August 31 but the agency failed to do so within the stipulated time,” said sources.

The penalty notice served to the agency states, “You were allotted the renovation of the Railway Park work through a letter dated February 24. As per the work-order, it was to be completed by August 31 but only 25 per cent work has been completed till November 18, which does not seem adequate and satisfactory. You were apprised of it repeatedly through letters but all in vain. Even, the image of Bahadurgarh MC is also getting spoiled hence a fine of Rs 7,44,531 is imposed as per norms.”

In the notice, the agency has also been directed to complete the remaining work at the earliest otherwise it would be responsible for further damage and expenses.

The sources said the MC authorities were persistently getting complaints from the councillor concerned and other residents for non-completion of the renovation work in time. Besides, a grill was to be installed towards the railway station but it was left open by the agency, which could lead to possible losses of life and property.
