Put warning triangles on buses or face music: RTA secy to pvt bus operators
To ensure road safety and prevent accidents in view of the foggy weather prevailing in the region, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Rohtak, has directed the private bus operators and school owners to affix reflector tapes and warning triangles on their buses.
The owners/operators of the buses have been categorically told to ensure that the reflector tapes and warning triangles are affixed on all their vehicles, failing which legal action would be initiated against them.
The bus operators have been warned that their vehicles would be challaned and impounded if found to be plying without the reflector tapes and warning triangles.
An intensive drive has also been launched to put reflector tapes and warning triangles on the vehicles found moving on the roads without these.
"The underlying idea behind the exercise is to prevent road mishaps due to fog, which has started quite early this year," said Major (retd) Gayatri Ahlawat, Secretary, RTA, Rohtak.
She said a meeting of the managers/operators of cooperative transport societies was convened at her office on Monday, at which safety kits containing reflector tapes and warning triangles were provided to them.
Moreover, the authority has also provided 200 reflector belts to the local Municipal Corporation for being put on the stray cattle roaming in the city.
"The stray cattle often lead to road accidents, especially in the foggy weather and during night hours. The reflector belts would help the drivers of vehicles spot the stray cattle from a distance, thus preventing mishaps," said the Secretary.
Apart from this, the reflector jackets and batons are also being provided to the RTA officials, Municipal Corporation workers and traffic police personnel deployed on the roads and at traffic intersections to ensure their safety.
"As many as 500 reflector jackets, 200 cow belts and 50 batons have been provided to the authorities concerned and more of these will be provided," said the officer.
