Promising Haryanvi talent to be honoured on International Women’s Day
Chandigarh, March 4
The Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Kamlesh Dhanda, today said women who had made outstanding contribution would be honoured on International Women’s Day. The state government will give awards to ‘Haryanvi’ talent who have made significant contribution in various fields at the international and national levels to promote women’s empowerment.
Dhanda said this during a committee meeting constituted to decide on the awards that were to be given on the occasion of International Women’s Day. She said. “The woman who wins the ‘Sushma Swaraj Award’ will be given a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a shawl and a citation.
She said International Women’s Day was celebrated every year on March 8. On the occasion, the Haryana Government honoured women who had brought glory to the state in various fields, including education, culture, singing, art, medicine, social welfare, awareness, empowerment, sports and mountaineering at a state-level function.
She said awards for other categories would also be given at the ceremony. These include ‘Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award’, ‘Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award, ‘Behan Shanno Devi Panchayati Raj Award’ ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, and ANM/Nurses/MPW category award. She said the best performing Anganwadi workers in the state would also be given awards, for which interviews of the workers who had applied through the department were also conducted.
The Honorary General Secretary of Haryana State Council for Child Welfare, Ranjeeta Mehta, Commissioner and Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, Amneet P Kumar, Director, Women & Child Development, Monica Malik and officers of other departments were present during the meeting.
