Prepaid meters to be installed across Haryana, says Power Minister
Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij today said prepaid power meters would be installed in all districts to resolve the problems related to wrong bills.
Interacting with mediapersons, Vij said: “Recently, a state-level meeting was held and directions regarding various reforms in the Power Department were issued to the officials. They have been told to calculate the load on transformers across the state and upgrade those having lower capacity. The department will assess the load on power cables and change them wherever the load is more than their capacity.”
“We have also decided to install prepaid meters across the state to resolve the complaints regarding wrong power bills. People often claim that they have lower consumption and yet higher bills are issued. With the facility of prepaid meters, residents will be able to recharge their accounts and use power as per their need. We will be constantly working to improve the functioning of the department," he said.
The minister also informed that dumping of garbage in open drains had been an issue in Ambala. “The open drains in Sadar areas have been covered by installing stormwater pipes, but for the remaining areas, a project under AMRUT-2 scheme has been submitted. We will try to get the project approved so that the remaining drains are also covered. We are also focusing on cleanliness. There are some challenges, including shortage of staff, but will try to increase the workforce and get the Ambala Sadar cleaned," he said.
Targeting Congress over the issue of Leader of opposition, Vij said: “The Congress is not a party. It is a group of various factions. They can’t take a collective decision, which is why they have not been able to reach a decision.”
