Pollution control board shuts two units in Yamunanagar district

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has closed the operations of two factories in Yamunanagar district.

One unit was allegedly found discharging untreated effluent outside the factory and the other was found running without obtaining consent to establish (CTE) and consent to operate (CTO) from the HSPCB.

Virender Singh Punia, Regional Officer of the HSPCB, Yamunanagar, said that a team of the Central Pollution Control Board with the help of the HSPCB, Yamunanagar, conducted an inspection of M/S JB Aluminium Industries, engaged in manufacturing of aluminium products and involved in pickling process near Bhatoli village in Yamunanagar district in May 2024.

He said the team included Abhijeet Singh Tanwar, Assistant Environment Engineer of the HSPCB, Assistant Environment Engineer Vibham Nayak and others.

He further said the ETP of the factory was found non-operational and untreated effluent was found being discharged outside of the factory premises through pipeline.

“This industrial unit was given a show-cause notice under Section 31-A of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 and 33-A of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974. Now, the operation of this factory was recently closed down by sealing its machinery,” said Virender Singh Punia.

He said a team of the HSPCB inspected M/S SN Industries, Jagadhri, a unit engaged in manufacturing of brass utensils, in May 2024.

He further said the team was found operating illegally without obtaining CTE and CTO from the HSPCB in violation of Section 25/26 of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and Section 21/22 of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981.

“Now, the operation of this industrial unit has been closed down by sealing its machinery,” said Virender Singh Punia.
