Chandigarh: Varinder Garg is a sought-after backroom boy of the saffron party. Whether preparing the nomination papers for political bigwigs, planning major events or keeping accounts of the party, Garg is always in demand. Now that the election results have been declared, Garg will be busy in preparing the accounts of the BJP stalwarts to be submitted to the election authorities.

Celebrating defeat

Hisar: BJP’s candidate from Hisar Kamal Gupta, who was a Cabinet minister under the BJP government, distributed ladoos among his supporters even as he lost the elections to Independent candidate Savitri Jindal. Gupta, who seemed unfazed by the defeat, said the people had approved the policies of the BJP, which was known for its corruption-free governance.

Ding-dong battle

Rohtak: The vote counting for the Assembly poll kept Congress’ Bharat Bhushan Batra and BJP’s Manish Grover kept their supporters on tenterhooks till the end. Batra was merely two votes ahead from Grover in the second-last round. Finally, Batra won the last round, repeating the history of the 2019 elections. At that time, too, the contest had gone till the last round.

BJP govt, Cong MLA once again

Rohtak: Even as the BJP is set to form the government in Haryana for the third consecutive time, residents of Rohtak do not have much to rejoice as they have again elected an MLA who is likely to sit in the Opposition. Congress’ Bharat Bhushan Batra, who has won the elections, was elected the Rohtak MLA last time, too. However, he did not have much say in the governance as he was in the Opposition.

Jalebis take centre stage

Gurugram: In a lighthearted twist to the BJP’s victory celebrations, the usual ladoos were swapped with jalebis at party offices across Haryana. The move was seen as a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, who had mentioned Gohana’s famous jalebis during a campaign speech. In the early hours of the morning, as initial trends showed the Congress leading in several seats, jalebis were distributed at the Congress office in Delhi.
