In response to the rising number of drug-related deaths in Sirsa district and complaints regarding the sale of narcotics at local medical stores, the district police have called for cooperation from medical store operators. During a meeting held on Friday at the police lines administrative building, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan addressed medical store owners and urged them to avoid selling any form of narcotic medication.

SP Bhushan emphasised the critical need for participation from all members of the community in the ongoing anti-drug campaign. He said medical store owners must not sell narcotic drugs under any circumstances and should fully support the district police’s initiatives against drug abuse.

To strengthen their efforts, Bhushan instructed all station and unit heads to enhance their intelligence networks to monitor medical stores selling banned substances. He highlighted that strict legal action would be taken against those found involved in the sale of illegal drugs.

Additionally, the SP warned that any medical store operator found implicated in drug trafficking would face severe consequences. He directed the police to cancel the registrations of any medical store operators who are running their businesses under another person’s registration and to take strong action against them.

The police’s appeal to medical store owners comes as part of a broader effort to combat the growing drug problem in the region, aiming to safeguard public health and safety. The cooperation of medical store operators is deemed vital in ensuring that controlled substances do not contribute to the escalating drug crisis in Sirsa.
