A joint team of the district police, RTA (Regional Transport Authority), Women Protection Officer and Haryana State Child Rights Protection Commission conducted a special inspection of school vans and buses to ensure child safety and compliance with traffic rules on Thursday. The team checked essential safety equipment in school buses, including first-aid kits, cameras and fire extinguishers, as part of their commitment towards safer student transportation.

During inspections, traffic police and officials warned school bus drivers that failing to equip their vehicles with these safety features would lead to strict action for violating traffic regulations. Before the inspection drive, a meeting was held, wherein the Women Protection Officer, traffic station in-charge, and RTA representatives briefed school and bus operators about the importance of strictly following court orders and traffic rules, stressing that protecting children was everyone’s duty and there could be no compromise on their safety.

The officials reminded drivers to avoid using mobile phones while driving and to refrain from consuming any intoxicants as these behaviors significantly increase the risk of accidents. The traffic station in-charge also provided essential guidelines for drivers, instructing them to always drive in the left lane and to pull over safely when picking up or dropping off children.

Further instructions included following lane discipline, stopping before the zebra crossing at red lights, and keeping vehicles within the marked lines. They urged drivers to adhere to the speed limits and always signal before making turns. The authorities underscored that buses should not carry more children than the designated capacity and that strict measures would be taken against non-compliant operators.
