The police have registered a case against a man and his sister for allegedly duping a couple of Rs 8 lakh on the promise of sending them to Canada. The accused were identified as Yogesh Sandhu and Aarti Sandhu, alias Sonia, of Yamunanagar.

Lodging a complaint with the police, Rohit of Jagadhri said he and his wife, Shivani, wanted to go to Canada. They approached Yogesh Sandhu and his sister Aarti Sandhu in August 2022 for immigration.

“We gave them Rs 8 lakh in installments and they assured us that we would be able to leave for Canada by January 2024,” alleged the complainant. After nothing of the sort happened, they asked the accused to return their money who started threatening them with dire consequences.
