A dog owner has been booked after a Pitbull attacked and bit a man walking in a park. The victim, Inderpal Rana, alleged that while the woman handling the dog failed to control it, her husband assaulted him instead of helping. An FIR has been lodged at the Palam Vihar police station.

According to Rana’s complaint, the incident occurred on September 6 when he was taking a walk in the park. Shalu, a resident of Palam Vihar, was also in the park with her Pitbull, which she could not control. The dog attacked and bit him. Later, her husband, Nitin, arrived and, rather than assisting, allegedly abused and pushed Rana to the ground. Rana said he remained in the park injured until the police arrived and took him to a hospital. After returning home, he filed a police complaint, following which an FIR was registered against Nitin under Section 291 of the BNS on Tuesday.

The incident highlights a growing concern about pet dog attacks in Gurugram. Several similar cases have been reported in recent years. On August 11, 2022, a domestic worker was attacked by a Pitbull while heading to work, which led to a Rs 2 lakh interim compensation order from the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum. In April 2023, a 7-year-old boy was bitten by a Pomeranian in Gandhi Nagar.
