Over 3.3 lakh MT paddy lifted in 8 days in Karnal district

With the joint efforts of the district administration, procurement agencies and contractors, the paddy lifting process in the grain markets has picked up pace. A total of 3,31,375 metric tonnes (MT) lifted over the past eight days. This has provided the much-needed space for farmers to unload their produce.

As per data, the agencies and contractors lifted 34,008 MT of paddy on October 14, 34,384 MT on October 15, 34,374 MT on October 16, 43,505 MT on October 17, 50,673 MT on October 18, 43,265 MT on October 19, 48,357 MT on October 20, and 42,809 MT on October 21.

Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh has already directed the government procurement agencies to speed up the process, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Yash Jaluka has been assigned the duty to monitor procurement and lifting operations in the grain markets. “The lifting process has been expedited, and we are hopeful that within a couple of days, there will be sufficient space for farmers to unload their produce in all grain markets,” said Uttam Singh, DC.

The data said that so far, different procurement agencies have purchased 6,81,593 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy, of which 4,33,728 MT have been lifted. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department procured the largest share (4,56,726 MT), followed by HAFED (1,35,852 MT) and the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation (89,015 MT).

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has only lifted 2,89,783 MT, HAFED 85,892 MT and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation just 58,053 MT.
