Over 20 fire incidents reported in Sirsa dist on night of Diwali
On Diwali night, more than 20 fire incidents were reported across Sirsa district, mostly caused by firecrackers. The local fire department worked throughout the night, with fire trucks rushing from one site to another. The incidents have reportedly caused substantial financial losses.
One of the fire incidents occurred at Vijay Medical Store near Parshuram Chowk. According to locals, around 7:30 pm, smoke started rising from the store. People quickly informed the store owner, Vijay Kumar, who was at home performing Diwali rituals, as well as the fire department. Firefighters reached the scene promptly and managed to contain the flames. However, the exact cause of the fire at the medical store remains unclear.
In another incident, a fire broke out at a warehouse belonging to Shri Ram Garments near Shiv Chowk. It is believed that a spark from a firecracker may have caused the blaze. Four fire trucks arrived at the location to tackle the flames, which had spread significantly by the time they arrived. Locals first noticed the fire around 10:30 pm and attempted to extinguish it, but it grew rapidly until the firefighters took control.
Similar fires were reported at various locations, including a house in Kalyan Nagar, a pesticide shop near Old Ding Mandi, trees in front of former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala’s house and at the stubble field in the Jodhkan cremation ground.
Fire Officer Kuldeep Sharma confirmed that over 20 fire incidents were reported on Diwali night.
